About the Band
Grohl formed back in 2014, when members Kelly Mader, Rudy Micallef, and Cindy Walker all realized that they loved playing Foo Fighters and Nirvana songs as part of their existing 90’s grunge band. With the addition of Sean McAloon and Shaun Scott, Grohl was formed with the sole purpose of paying homage to Dave Grohl.
Dave Grohl has had his hands in many different endeavors, which allows for much more wiggle room and a broader selection of music than your average tribute band. Songs from the Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Them Crooked Vultures, Queens of the Stone Age, Probot, Tenacious D, Killing Joke, Ghost, and many more are all on the table.
Each member of Grohl has been involved in the Dallas music scene for many years, and everyone brings their own unique skill set and background to the band.
Vocalist Kelly Mader is a multi-instrumentalist (just like Dave), and previous projects include Liquid Echo, Tacet, NonetheLess, as well as current solo projects.
Lead guitarist Sean McAloon, another multi-instrumentalist, previously played drums for Clockwork Angels, a tribute to Rush, and Eclipse, An American Rock Band.
Rudy Micallef on rhythm guitar has played in several cover bands such as 2012 and Tacet.
Shaun Scott is an experienced bassist who knows how to stay in the pocket. Previous projects include Mourning Friday, NONEtheLESS, Three Fifths, and others.
Finally, Cindy Walker, an accomplished percussionist from UT, is currently also involved with the Carrolton Wind Symphony. Previous bands such as Tacet have shaped her into the “Human Metronome”.
